Born 10 Apr 1931 in Whittier, CA the only son of Ty and Lila Cobb. He grew up in the Whittier and Antelope Valley, CA area. After attending Antelope Valley Community College, Doug enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served his country as an Avionics Technician, during the Korean conflict. Upon leaving the military he continued his education at New Mexico State, graduating with a degree in Electronics Engineering.
In 1958 he moved to Ridgecrest, CA and joined the Naval Ordnance Test Station, China Lake, CA as a junior professional. While he was employed at China Lake he worked on the Sidewinder, Shrike and Sparrow guidance control systems, retiring in 1994. In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Lois and spending time with his family.
Doug was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His kind words, fatherly advice and just plain good nature will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lois; children Cyndi and Ed Townsend, Mary and Bob Rufener, Mike Cobb, Terry and Gen Cobb; Grandchildren Jaye Carter and Carol Dorey, Nic and Cheryl Townsend, Bobby Rufener, Sarah Rufener, Ryan Rufener, Andrew and Jessica VanScott; Great grandchildren Lyla Carter, Joshua Carter, Ty Dorey, Noah Townsend, Kyah Townsend and Grace Townsend.
