He was the son of Peter Andreas Iverson (1854-1910) and
Mary Ann Ryan Iverson (1861-1898)
. He was an only child.

In 1914, he married Margaret Amelia DeCoste (1897-1962) in Gloucester, Massachusetts. They had the following children: Shirley (d. 1988) Richard (d. 1973) and Pat Spencer (d. 2003).

The family lived in Gloucester, Boston, and Everett, Massachusetts. Over the years, he owned several barber shops and hair salons. He was also a theatre director.

Iver died of injuries from a car accident in Massachusetts.
