Artie Elizabeth Berry Messemer, 81, Fountaintown. of Fountaintown, Indiana, passed away March 6, 2015 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born May 19, 1933, in Port Royal, Kentucky, to the late Forest and Laura Ellen (Tingle) Berry. Artie graduate from Carrollton High School in Henry County, Kentucky in 1951. She married the late Ronald J. Messemer, August 14, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were married 59 years, until Ronald's death on February 8, 2013. During the early 1950, Artie worked for Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company and later Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis as a switch-board operator. During the 1970s, Artie worked in the administrative offices of the Indianapolis Police Department. She was later awarded as an Honorary Deputy of the Marion County Sheriff's Department in Indianapolis for her service to the community. Artie retired from General Electric Co. while working for the organization in St. Paul, Minnesota, Seattle, Washington, and Shelbyville, Indiana. Artie finally retired in 1995, after serving as benefits administrator for Emerson Electric Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a resident of the Indianapolis, Indiana area for 54 years and devoted member of the Franklin Road Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Artie was preceded in death by her brother William Berry, wife Patricia; and her sister Sue (Berry) Woodard, husband Dr. Robert. Artie is survived by her son, Dr. Jonathan E. Messemer, wife Dr. Jane; granddaughter, Leah; brother-in-law, Roger A. Messemer, wife Cheryl. Visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015 at Noon until services at 1:00pm at Tufts-Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 Riverside Dr., Loveland, Ohio. Burial will precede the funeral services at Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville, Ohio. A memorial service for Artie will be held at the Franklin Road Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist International Evangelistic Ministries, P.O. Box 707, Danville, Indiana 46122-0707.
