Max, of Lumberton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a lengthy illness of diabetes, cancer and congestive heart failure.
He was born to W.A. "Pat" Langston and Nettie Wilkinson Langston.
A graduate of Warren High School he served five years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a S/Sgt. He served as tower chief at Camp Gary in San Marcos, Texas, until June 1959 at which time he began working for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller at Hobby Airport in Houston, and transferred to Intercontinental Airport when it opened. He transferred to the Jefferson County Airport and was a supervisor there until his retirement in 1974. He was a graduate of the Peace Officer's school from Kilgore College and served as a volunteer deputy with the Hardin County Sheriff's Office under Mike Holzapfel for many years. He also served as a volunteer deputy with the Tyler County Sheriff's Office for two years. He was a member of Myrta Lodge A.F./A.M. in Warren and Past Patron of the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years, Juanell Jones Langston; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Jim Wilson; and LaVerne and Art Danos; brother, W. A. (Bill) Langston; grandchildren: LeAnn (Shawn) McNulty; Tim (Dawn) Freeman; Jana Lane; Aaron Danos; Andrew Danos; and Alan Danos; great grandchildren: Aleisha McNulty; Harrison McNulty; Kyler Bradford and Brady Freeman; plus a niece and two nephews and many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
