Graveside services for George Michael, 90, of May, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the May Cemetery.

George Harvel Michael was born Oct. 1, 1924 in May to Claude McDow and Rosa Ada Welch Michael. He passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Brownwood.

George is survived by his daughter, Janice and husband Shorty Kilgo. He is also survived by his grandsons, Todd Kilgo and wife Michelle, Chad Kilgo and wife Brenda, Wes Michael and wife Brenda, and Tony Camp; his granddaughters, Tracy and husband Hank Schumacher and Mitzi and husband Jason Cockerham. He is survived by his great-grandchildren, Braxton Kilgo, Hunter Kilgo, Kyndi Kilgo, Tyler Hammond, Wyatt Michael, Jake Michael, Collin Michael, Cory Boyd, Catlyn Schumacher, Casey Schumacher, Peyton Cockerham, Paige Camp, and Paityn Camp. He is also survived by his sister Loren Bush and brother Claude Michael Jr., known as J.R.

George lived his whole life in May. He graduated from May and went into the Army. George traveled to New York, England, and Germany during the war. He always said he had traveled enough. While in the Army he trained as a carpenter. He was discharged from the Army in May 1946.

On Dec. 14, he married Lillian Louise Stone. They bought a piece of land, built a little shack on it, and lived in it while they built their home bit by bit. He constructed houses, and later went to work for Herman Bennett Construction, where he was a foreman over some of the large construction sites, Kohler, 3M, and Commerce Shopping Mall.

George and Lillian had two children, George Harvel Michael Jr. and Janice Gayle Michael Kilgo. He worked hard, was a good Christian man, a good husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. George was a farmer and rancher.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lillian; and his son, George Harvel Michael Jr., better known as G.H.
