Anna Ellen (House) Hoff was born the second child of twelve born to Daniel House and Harriet Dell "Hattie" Robert; her siblings were: Lester House, Roy House, Carl House, Grace Dell (House) Rike, Lawrence House, Clarence House, Imo (House) Lock, Orville House, Verbie House, Mary Charlotte (House) Straszheim, and Nora Bell (House) King.

She was united in marriage to Homer Ozro Hoff on February 8, 1913. To this union, six known children were born: Dortha Lucille (Hoff) Roselius Besecker, Ethel May (Hoff) Weaver, Berniece Alberta (Hoff) Davisson, Marjorie Ilene Albert, Ida Louise (Hoff) Hundley, and Loretta Dell (Hoff) Harris.

She was a farmer's wife and kept house for her husband and daughters.

The Messenger of Death struck this family twice, first with the death of her husband of 57 years in 1970, and then again with the death of their daughter, Loretta Dell (Hoff) Harris in 1973; before she was summoned to the spirit world from Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, following an extended illness, at the age of 89y, 8m, 29d. She was interred on June 10, 1985.

Anna Hoff

Mrs. Anna Hoff, 89, of 104 S. Warer St., Lewisburg, died Friday morning at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness.

She was a native of Preble County and lived in Lewisburg most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in 1970 and a daughter, Loretta Harris, in 1973.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Besecker of West Alexandria, Ethel Weaver of Brookville, Marjorie Albert and Berniece Davisson, both of Lewisburg and Ida Hundley of Eldorado; one brother, Verbie House of Farmersville; 16 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday at Barnes Funeral Home, Lewisburg Chapel, with the Rev. John Harris, officiating. Burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, near West Alexandria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or the Lewisburg Emergency Unit.
