Ms. Stella Catherine Alston, age 81, of Lake Sinclair, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her residence. A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Dr. Joe Buck IV will officiate.

Ms. Alston was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late Marvin William Alston and the late Frances Elizabeth Thigpen Alston. She was a 1950 graduate of Sandersville High School where she was selected “Most Athletic” by the student body. Stella entered the US Army where she received training as a physical therapist after graduating from Georgia Women’s College. She spent her working career in physical therapy at the Warm Springs Foundation in Warm Spring prior to helping establish the department of physical therapy at West Georgia Health Center in Lagrange. She concluded her career after moving to Lake Sinclair at the Central State Hospital and also with home health care.

Ms. Alston is survived by her brother, Marvin W. Alston Jr. and his wife Joanna of Sandersville, nieces, Jane Elizabeth Alston and Anna Catherine Alston both of Seattle WA., and her nephew, Joseph McElrath Alston of Charleston SC.
