His father Enoch Tucker was elected with David "Davy" Crockett in 1819 as one of Lawrenceburg's (TN) first commissioners. He also became a miner in Lawrence County. Colonel David Crockett had purchased a total of 170 acres in three locations. When Crockett fell into financial difficulties, after his mill and distillery operations washed down Shoal Creek in 1821, he deeded this land to his friend and business associate, Enoch Tucker (son of William Tucker and Matilda Coates) and left Lawrence County in 1822, moving to Gibson County, Tenn.

The mines at Pinkney were first known as the "Tucker Mines", although it was much later in the century before it became profitable for iron ore to be mined there.

Enoch Tucker died on a business trip in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1836.
