Husband of my 4th great Aunt, Wilhelmina W. Johnson who he married on Feb 8, 1841 in Scott Co., IL. She probably died either in birth of last son in 1857 or soon thereafter as she is not listed with family in the 1860 census. Her husband & their three children are living with with married daughter, Mary C. (17) & Jacob Rockey (32) in Hillsborough, Cedar Township, Van Buren Co., IA.

According to FamilySearch.org, Washington is the son of Horatio Gaither (1785-1850) & Nancy (maiden name unknown) (1788-1850); grandson of Revolutionary War veteran Pvt. Nicholas Gaither (1758-1793) & Eleanor Greenfield (1753 – 1850).
