H.W. ‘Dwight' Brinson, 86, Shelbyville, died Saturday at his home.

Born on March 17, 1911, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Cory F. and Pearle (Buchanan) Brinson. In 1933, he married Flora Belle ‘Jack' (Webster) Brinson, and she died March 1, 1991. On Dec. 1, 1991, he married Imogene (Goebel) Brinson, and she survives.

Mr. Brinson was the Shelby County agricultural agent for 30 years and area administrator from 1968 to 1971. He retired in 1971.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Shelby County Fair Board and Shelby County Farm Bureau. He was past president and governor of Rotary International District No. 656 and a member of the Shelby County United Fund Board, which he served as drive chairman in 1968 and 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Shelbyville; two sons, Dwight Brinson Jr., Morristown, and Thomas Lee Brinson, Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Ann) Clark, Muncie; one brother, Gaylord A. Brinson, Mount Summit; two sisters, Murnie Brinson, Clearwater, Fla., and Lonis Waltz, Martinsville; one half-brother, Edwin Brinson, Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wallace Jeffs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
