Henry G. Burson, resident of Valley county for more than 55 years, passed away suddenly at his home in north Ord Thursday evening at 5: 15, as the result of a heart attack. He was apparently in about his usual health and his sudden passing came as a distinct shock to all who knew him. Until his retirement from the farm in 1924 he was always an ambitious and hard working man, and he always found work to keep employed after he had moved to town. He will be sincerely mourned for by his old neighbors and friends who knew him best.
Henry G. Burson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burson, was born in Williamsport, 0., October 3, 1860, and died at his home in Ord May 26, 1938, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 23 days. In 1867 he moved with his parents to Wahoo, Nebr., where he lived till he was grown. Here his father died when he was a small boy. He came to Valley county February 18, 1882, locating on a homestead 7 miles west of Ord. This was his home till 1924 when he moved to Ord, living here till his death. He was married to Miss Sophronia Ann Barns, to which union eleven children were born, 8 sons and 3 daughters. His wife, Mrs. Sophronia Ann Burson, having passed away, Mr. Burson was married on June 10, 1930 to Mrs. Frances Brown at Mt. Gilead, O. Mr. Burson was preceded in death by his first wife and three sons, Ernest, Irvin and Ivan. Besides his wife, he is survived by the following: 5 sons, Joe J., George H., Ralph J., of Ord, Nebr., John S., of Burwell, Earl E., of Litchfield, Nebr. 3 daughters, Cora E. Whitford of Santa Anna. Calif., Ella S. Wright of Berkeley, Calif., Mable E. Garner of Loup City, Nebr.
Mr. Burson had 34 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Anna Preston of Mitchell, Nebraska, and on half-sister, Clara Wilson of Ord.
Funeral services were held from the Ord Methodist church Sunday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mearl C. Smith in charge. Burial was made in the Ord cemetery.
