James D. "Jim" McColley, 68, Shelbyville, died Friday at Vencor Hospital, Greenwood.

Born Oct. 7, 1930, in Shelby County, he was the son of Azora Mae (Branyan) and Sanford H. McColley. He married Mildred (Applegate) McColley on Jan. 11, 1950, and she survives.

A lifelong resident of Shelby County, Mr. McColley was a self-employed construction contractor who retired in 1989.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors also include three sons, Kerry "K.D." McColley and Tony McColley, both of Shelbyville, and Rickey McColley, Curacao, Netherlands; a daughter, Roxanne Suits, Shelbyville; three sisters, Dorothy Brooks, Goldie Hungerford and Isbella Jeffries, all of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Horner officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
