Carl Cecil Aldredge, age 78, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at The McDowell Hospital. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and neighbor, Carl was born May 9, 1936 and was the son of the late J. R. and Lola Cable Aldredge.
A man who enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel, he will be remembered for having been a jack of all trades and working with his hands. He especially liked working on his farm and doing carpentry work. Carl was an avid antique car collector and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church for 59 years. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Aldredge Cook.
Mr. Aldredge is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Walker Aldredge of the home; one son, Randy Aldredge of Glenwood; one son-in-law, Dexter Cook of Glenwood; a special friend, Lori Meadows of Glenwood; four sisters, Mildred Bowman of Glenwood, Leona Arrington and husband Dean of Waynesville, Donna Lewis of Arden and Lanell Beam and husband Bobby of Glenwood; three brothers, Donald Aldredge and wife Nellie of Glenwood, David Aldredge and wife Velva of Glenwood and James Aldredge and wife Rita of Morganton and three grandchildren, Bryant Cook of Boone, Landon Cook of Orlando, FL and Carli Cook of Glenwood.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Love and Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
