Married Mary "Polly" Karr on Aug. 29, 1830/1832(conflicting records) in Perry Co., OH. Children include: William, Henry, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel, Thomas, James Irwin, Lucretia, and Eleanor.

His widow, Mary, married David Forst in 1856.

William Delvin, at Huntington, has brought suit to restrain the removal of bodies from the old Masonic cemetery there, alleging first that he is an heir of the founder of the cemetery, and next that he has relatives buried there.

James Delvin, who for years past, has been an inexorable drinker of whiskey, when he could get it, died on Friday morning last, a victim to that most horrible of all diseases, delirium tremens. He leaves a wife and several small children, to make the journey of life's weary way as best they can.
