Pauline J. Sferes, 80, formerly of Cumberland Avenue, died Tuesday at a Westbrook nursing home following a brief illness.
She was born in Dover, N.H., a daughter of Constantinos and Diamando Politis Blougouras. She attended schools in Dover, N.H.
Prior to her retirement in 1958, Mrs. Sferes owned and operated Ideal Lunch, a restaurant on Free Street, with her husband, James J. Sferes. He died in 1958.
Surviving are three sons, John J. Sferes of Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Thomas J. Sferes of Kennebunk, and George J. Sferes of Wallingford, Conn.; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur T. (Esther J.) Greene of Scarborough and Athene J. Cleary of Westbrook; two brothers, Merrill Blougouras of Dover, N.H., and the Very Rev. Ernest Blougouras of Tenafly, N.J.; and a sister, Clara Mpontsikaris of Cambridge, Mass.
Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St.
