WHEELERSBURG - Kathleen Barr McFarlane, age 92, passed away Monday, February l6, 2015 at the Concord Health and Rehab Center in Wheelersburg.
Kathleen was born November 12, 1922 in Frymire, Kentucky, to Morton and Lora Keys Barr. She was married to Joseph Robert McFarlane in 1946, whom preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Barr Trujillo of Louisville, Kentucky, and her three daughters, Rita Clark of Raleigh, North Carolina, Marsha McCoy of Jacksonville, Florida, and Christina Winebrenner of Wheelersburg. Kathleen's grandchildren include Joseph Clark, Lora Clark, Dustin Winebrenner, Jonathan McCoy; and two great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was a longstanding member of Hills Chapel Christian Union Church of Rocky Fork. Later in life she was a resident of the Hudson House in Portsmouth and attended the River View Wesleyan Church of Portsmouth.
Kathleen proudly attained her G.E.D. at the Scudder School in Portsmouth and later she enjoyed her volunteer work with the adult literacy and the Radio Reading Program.
Her legacy will be her kind and giving manner that touched everyone she knew. She also leaves her music, writings and poetry.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Concord Health and Rehab Center and Heartland Hospice of Lucasville, who provided care and enriched her life for the past five years.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Wheelersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Brant officiating. Burial will be in Koenig Cemetery, Otway, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Lucasville, 205 North, Lucasville, Ohio, 45648. .
Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
