He was born March 4, 1946, in Staunton, a son of the late Melvin and Goldie (Roadcap) Alexander.
He was a Vietnam veteran having served from 1966 – 1968 as an Army Specialist 4th Infantry Division.
Mr. Alexander was employed by Westinghouse, Verona plant from 1968 -1974; worked for his father in construction from 1974 – 1983; worked for Virginia Frame Builders and Supply Inc. in Fishersville from 1983 until his retirement in 2008.
He was a lifetime member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Mt. Sidney.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on Oct. 4, 1969, family members include a daughter, Deana Renea (Alexander) Griffin; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn (Alexander) and Walter Cason of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; aunts and uncles, Jean (Roadcap) Cox of Staunton, Paul and Louise Roadcap of Mt. Sidney, and Edith and Joe Koogler of Staunton; a nephew, Greg Cason and wife, Shelli, of Morgantown, West Virginia; and a niece, Pam (Cason) Sheaffer of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; great-nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky William Alexander on July 22, 2005 and a nephew, Jeffrey Cason on Aug. 9, 2013.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Sidney by the Rev. Lance K. Braun. Burial will be private in the Church Cemetery.
There will be a reception following the memorial service in the Imagine Center at the church.
