Elisha "Ferdie" Ferdinand Fishback, 96, Canton, Mo., died Friday May 5, 2006 at his home near Canton, Mo. Born April 19, 1920, at Monticello, Mo., a son of Frank A. and Mary Eliza McDermott Fishback. He married Virginia Gruber September 15, 1931 in LaGrange, Mo. He worked at Culver-Stockton College as a custodian. He and his wife worked as interior decorators, including painting and paper hanging. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Willis, Rebecca George and husband Gary, of Canton. Also surviving are grandsons Dennis Willis and his wife Diane, and John George and his wife Julie, of Canton, and granddaughters Mary Stice and husband Dale of Monticello; Tina Combs and husband Jack of Canton, great grandchildren Bethany Callison and husband Cal of Rochester, Ill.;Nathan Stice of Monticello; Jared Stice of Avondale, Ariz.; Tami Davis and husband Dwight, Julie and Eli Combs, and Alex and Andy George of Canton, Mo., great-great grandchildren Javin and Kenan Callison of Rochester, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant sister, and infant grandson. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Davis Funeral Home in Canton, Mo. Funeral services were Sunday, May 7, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Canton, Mo., with the Rev. Jack Combs and Rev. Cal Callison officiating. Interment was in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton. Pallbearers were: Dennis Willis, John George, Dwight Davis, Nathan Stice, Jared Stice, and Dale Stice. Music was provided by Mary Stice, Organist; Becky Orman and Amy Eaton, Vocalists. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Gideon's, Baptist Children's Home at Bridgeton, Mo., Baptist Home for Aged, or a charity of the donors choice.
