My Mother-in-law passed away Thanksgiving evening. Let us be thankful for all the years that we had with her. She created a ripple effect similar to a pebble being dropped into a pool of standing water. The ripples that she created touched the lives of her family and all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
Dorothy J. Balting, 91, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Morristown Manor in Morristown, with all her family beside her.
Born Sept. 1, 1920, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Luther and Ollie (Dunn) Simpson. She married Paul F. Balting on June 10, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1978.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis (husband, Larry) Hilkene, Martha Kehrt and Linda (husband, Jeff) Wright, all of Shelbyville; sons, Jim (wife, Becky) Balting and Dave (wife, Brandy) Balting, both of Shelbyville, and Tom Balting of Manilla; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Balting; a granddaughter, Kathy Conrad; four brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Balting was a lifetime resident of this area and had attended Shelbyville High School.
She had been employed as a factory worker at Admiral Corp.
