Born Jan. 20, 1921, in Shelbyville, he was the son of William Jackson and Edna Mae Briggs.
Mr. Briggs had been a factory worker, employed at International Furniture.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Brown, Shelbyville, and Emma Jarvis, Florida; and a niece and caregiver, Johanna Briggs, Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Patrick Larracey officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
