Robert D. Kettler, 72, of Belleville, Ill., born June 24, 1935, in Belleville, Ill., died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Kettler worked for the City of Belleville as a lead maintenance man, and retired from Operating Engineers Union. He also served as a security guard at the St. Clair County Fair Grounds for over 37 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Olivia, nee Schwarz, Kettler; a brother, Ronald Kettler; and a sister, Maxine Helmholt.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Kettler of Belleville, Ill.; his children, William Kettler of Belleville, Ill., Malinda (Bradley) Roe of Belleville, Ill., and Michael (Terra) Kettler of Belleville, Ill.; three sisters, Doris Watkins, Jane (Jim) Knorr, and Theda Jean Kettler; a brother, Harry (Mildred) Kettler; his grandchildren, Jana, Brandy (Chris), Zoe, Cody, Bailey, Brandon and Jacob; one great-grandchild, Crystal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Chaplain Doug Stewart officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Crematory, Belleville, Ill.
