Vilda “Bill” Slaven Sexton, 86, passed away October 5, 2011, at Scott County Hospital. Born in the Alticrest community in Jamestown, April 23, 1925, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Caldwell “Curl” and Melzurie West Slaven; husband, Cornelius Sexton; son, Phillip Fenton Sexton; brother, Warren Slaven; and sister, Sarah Ellen Lay. She was a member of the Paint Rock Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Leslie Sexton and wife, Vivian; daughters: Patricia Kay Roberts and husband, Ronald Dean; Marsha Fay Barnes and husband, Paul Dean; and Janet Yancey and husband, Sammy, all of Oneida; 12 grandchildren: 20 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law: Lola June Jeffers of Kodak, Rose Marie “Kelo” Sexton of Oneida; and Ethel Sexton of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted October 8, at Paint Rock Baptist Church with Bro. Dean Barnes and Bro. Ronald Roberts officiating. Music was provided by the Paint Rock Baptist Church Choir and family.
