Charles R. Malone, 37, died Saturday, May 20, 1939, at the home of his parents, 1414 Iowa Street, Davenport, after a lingering illness.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, at Hill and Fredericks Mortuary in Davenport, with The Rev. C.K. Gillum officiating. Alvin Bargmann sang. Pallbearers are Charles Crecelius, Neal Rohlfs, Robert Armil, Roy Schmidt, L.E. Eikins and William Killey. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa, with full Military Rites conducted by Trinity Lodge A.F. & A.M.

Charles Raymond Malone was born June 25, 1901, in Davenport, the son of Charles and Effie (Harlow) Malone. He graduated from Davenport High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War I, in the Red Cross service, being stationed at Camp Scott in Chicago, Illinois. He married Norma Catherine Hennings on January 21, 1934 in Marengo and were later divorced. They had no children. He was a former district manager of the Union Automobile Indemnity Company in Davenport. He was an aviation enthusiast and had traveled by plane extensively. He was a life resident of Davenport, a member of the First Christian Church, Trinity Lodge No. 208, A.F. & A.M., and the Davenport Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malone of Davenport; one sister, Gladys (Marvin) Thollander of Rock Island, IL; and one niece, Betty Kamback of Rock Island, IL.
