Captain Fineman was the pilot of RB-24E Liberator #42-7113, serving with the 2115th Base Unit at Courtland Army Airfield, Alabama.

He was killed in service, in a crash of the four-motored bomber, one mile east of Town Creek, Alabama.

Three other airmen also perished:
