THACKERVILLE -- Services for Gwen Shaffer Rueda, 58, Marietta, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Thackerville Church with Bro. Johnny Reed and the Rev. Aaron Easton officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery, Marietta.
Mrs. Rueda was born Aug. 25, 1942, at Marietta to Paul and Elsie Sims Shaffer. She died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her residence.
She lived most of her life in the Marietta area, graduating from Thackerville High School in 1960, and was the kitchen supervisor at Lake Murray Resort for 20 years. She enjoyed cooking and was a member of Thackerville Church.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chris and Bridget Bond, Idabel, and Duane Carlisle, Weatherford, Texas; three brothers, Dan Shaffer, Tacoma, Wash., Gayland Shaffer, Marietta, and Ellery Shaffer, Front Royal, Va.; two sisters, Joan Miles, Marietta, and Aleen Kretzschmar, Lewisville, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kayla Bond, Kasey Bond, Brandon Carlisle and Brianna Carlisle.
Bearers will be men of Thackerville Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
