Thomas Carder, 61, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at his home in Urbandale. The family will receive friends 5-8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 13th at Point of Grace Church in Waukee. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 14th at Point of Grace Church; private family burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.

Thomas was born August 26, 1953 in Des Moines to Bernard E. and Gloria (Knapp) Carder. He was a Hoover High School graduate. On January 5, 1973 he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Pedersen. They enjoyed 42 loving years together. Tom and Carol enjoyed daily walks together. Tom was an outdoorsman and loved to fish, boat and spend time with his family. He enjoyed vacationing in Minnesota, Lake Okoboji, and Lake Panorama. Tom enjoyed creating and collecting original artwork.

Tom started working at age 14 progressing to Crescent Chevrolet, Waldinger Corporation and created Quality Manufacturing Corporation in 1995. He enjoyed metal fabrication, working with various artists, taking on difficult projects and working alongside the 503 employees of Quality Manufacturing. He considered each of them part of his extended family.

Survivors include his wife, children multiple aunts and cousins.
