WADE P. ABEE
Wade Pinkney Abee, 81, of Hickory, died Jan. 27, 2001, at Catawba Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 27, 1919, in Burke County, he was a son of the late Dolphus and Cora Berry Abee. A member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church, he was a former deacon and teacher. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired as a machinist from Newton Knitting Mill after 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Merton Abee, Ray Abee, Earl Abee and Gordon Abee; three sisters, Neverta Benfield, Marie Abee and Alberta Abee.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Young Abee; a brother, Bill Abee of Hildebran; two sons and daughters-in-law, Knolan P. and Janet Abee of Hickory and Gwyn H. and Tina Abee of Statesville; a daughter, Sheila Jean Warren of Spartanburg, S.C.; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by Dr. Gordon N. Benton at 2 p.m. Monday at Catawba Funeral Home. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Mountain Grove Baptist Church, 6156 Mountain Grove Road, Hickory, N.C. 28602.
