Nancy Margaret Ryals Bell

Nancy Margaret Ryals, daughter of Charles Henry and Sophia Ann Ryals, was born November 22, 1867, in McNary County, near Henderson, Tennessee. She died January 1, 1947, at the age of 79 years, one month and 10 days, at the home of her daughter, Katie Etta Emaline Bell, Mrs. James Overton Patterson.

Mrs. Bell came with her parents, brothers and sisters to Arkansas when 13 years of age, then moved to Texas to spend her young womanhood. When a young woman she married William Albert Bell of Fannin County, Texas, who preceded her in death several years ago. To this union three children were born. Two died in infancy, Mrs. J. O. Patterson being the only surviving child of the deceased.

Mrs. Bell has five grandchildren: Bonnie Deloris (Patterson) James and husband Walter Peleg James II of Felt, Oklahoma, William Durward Patterson and his wife Ester Maxine (Kern) Patterson, James Norwell Patterson and wife Oma (Jackman) Patterson, Emma Lucile (Patterson) Hart and husband Ralph Paul Hart, Cora Mae (Patterson) Miller, and husband Hiram Kenneth Miller, all of Boise City, Oklahoma, and 12 great grandchildren. She has two brothers: R. G. Ryals of Waurika, Okalhoma, J. P. Ryals of Burkburnett, Texas, and two sisters Mrs. W. W. Houpt and Mrs. S. M. Dill of St Joe, Texas.

Mrs. Bell was a pioneer in the settlement of Texas and greatly loved the Lone Star State, as she helped in those pioneer days to make it the great state that it is.

She lived in Stratford, Texas several years and had a novelty store and while there made many friends who appreciated her for what she was, a kind, loving and helpful person to all whom she met, never too busy to cheer and help those who needed her along life's pathway. She lived in Stratford until she became an invalid and went with her daughter, then a child, to live with relatives in South Texas. About three years ago she came to live with her daughter, Mrs. J. O. Patterson, in Boise City, Oklahoma.

Her health grew worse and often she told relatives and friends who came to see that her ties were Over Yonder and she was ready to go. Very often she longed, while laying there, to see loved ones who had gone on before. Although not a member of any church she was a devout Christian and serve Him while confined toher bed for many years.
