MRS. ELLEN HINDS

Mrs. Ellen Hinds, who was for many years a resident of Gibson City, died at her home in this city last Thursday, October 24, 1918, after an extended illness. The funeral was held at the home last Saturday afternoon, in charge of Rev. J. L. Settles. The following obituary was read at the funeral:

Mrs. Ellen Hinds was born at Manchester, England, March 15, 1846, and departed this life at her home in Gibson City on Thursday, October 24, 1918, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 9 days. She came from England with her parents in 1856 and for a number of years lived at and near Magnolia, IL. She was united in marriage to William Hinds at Lostant, IL, in 1867, and lived in that community for a few years. They moved to Gibson City in 1890, where she had lived the past 28 years. Her husband, William Hinds, passed away in this city in 1903.

Mrs. Hinds was the mother of thirteen children, eight of whom are living, as follows: Wilfred and Frank of Gibson City, Calvin of South Dakota, Mrs. Ella VanSchoyck of Ridgeville, IL, Daisy, Philip, Clara Doman and Mrs. Hazel Lowery, all of Gibson City. She leaves thirteen grandchildren. There are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Shaw of Kansas and Mrs. Eliza Nasers of Gibson City. Four brothers, John Bond of Guthrie, Wilbur Bond of Michigan, Zachary Bond of Iowa and Isaac Bond of Gibson City.

Mrs. Hinds was a woman of sterling Christian character. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Gibson City in 1902 and as long as she was able, was a faithful attendant of all services.
