Author, Musician. Best known for her 1899 children's book "Dot and the Kangaroo." The book was later adapted into a feature film in 1977. A lifelong activist for the conservation of Australian flora and fauna, she wrote the book as a critique of what she saw as negative human interaction with nature. She died from cancer at the age of 39.
