Isaac Hollinger was the son of John and Elizabeth Burgner Hollinger and was born in Summit county, Ohio, Dec 19, 1842. He died at his home on Walnut Street in Butler on the morning of Jan.15, 1919; aged 76 years and 26 days.

He was four years old when his parents moved from near Clinton, Ohio to DeKalb county Indiana. He was married to Mary Ellen Moughler Sept. 18, 1870; and for more than 48 years they traveled the way of life together.

To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter. He was conveted in January 1871 and united with the Big Run United Brethern church. In the spring of 1886 he moved with his family to Meade county Kansas. After about five years of pioneer life in western Kansas he returned with his family to Indiana. Beacuse of failing health, the farm on which he labored after returning to Indiana was sold and husband and wife moved to Butler.

As the years passed he grew more feeble and the last months of his life were months of suffering. On Tuesday Jan. 14 he fell into a deep sleep from which he did not awake, and peacefully and without struggle his spirit left the tabernacle of the body and departed to be with God.

The family alter was early set up in this home and the children have no recollection of any period when it was not a part of the home life.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, four sons, Rev. D. C. Hollinger of Marion, O.; H. D. Hollinger of Grant, Mich.; Floyd and Ivan Hollinger of this county. There are also thirteen grandchildren and two brothers, Daniel and Samuel Hollinger and a large number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the United Brethern church Friday Jan. 17. The services were in charge of Rev. Stanley. Interment in the Butler cemetery.
