Elizabeth Patnaude was born on May 23, 1889 in Rolette County, ND to Charles Patnaude and Margaret Swain.

Elizabeth "Betsey" Patnaude and Louis Phillip Allery were united in marriage on May 4, 1905 in Belcourt, ND. They lived on the Allery farm in the Belcourt area all of their married life.

Betsey's work was never ending. She made her own soap with fat and lye. The only thing used for laundry was a tub and washboard. Each year she had a large garden and canned the food for the winter. All the meat was dried to use for the winter months. Many times there were about 25 people staying at the Allery home, which was a two-room log house. They were generous and took people in who did not have a place to go.

In 1937 Phillip received a new government house. In 1938 a gravel road was started and shortly after that they got a car. Most of the Allery children were forced to find jobs at a very early age to provide support for the family. Fish Lake st that time was a good clean lake; the surrounding lakes today were once hay land. The children had to walk to school and church.

Betsey passed away on September 4, 1955 in Rolette County, North Dakota at 83 years of age.
