RONALD L. “RON” ALLEN, 46, OF 107 Poplar St., Towanda, died Wednesday evening Nov. 7, 2001, at his home after a long battle with cancer. Born Oct. 12, 1955, in Towanda, he was a son of the late Emory M. and Doris E. Davidson Allen sr. Ron was a graduate of Troy High School and served in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania from 1978 to 1995. He was formerly employed by the Ingersoll-Rand foundry in Waverly, N.Y., and the maintenance department of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, for many years. Ron was honored as Memorial Hospital’s first employee of the month. Ron was an active member of the Towanda Ambulance Association having served on the Board of Directors. He was the recipient of the Towanda Ambulance Association’s Outstanding Service Award in 1991 and Spouse of the Year Award in 1994. Ron served as president of the North Towanda Fire and Rescue Volunteers from 1999 until his passing, and received the Fire Police of the Year Award in 1999. Ron had started taking flying lessons before declining health forced him to discontinue. He is survived by his wife, Eileen M. Allen, whom he married Dec. 30, 1989, at the Saco Road Baptist Church; children, Brenda Allen of Jersey Shore, Ronda Allen and her fiance, Chris Yonkin, of Towanda, Lara Allen, David Ausem and Rick Ausem; all at home; grandchildren, Tyler and Elizabeth of Jersey Shore, and Megan of Towanda; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Rosanna Allen of Ulster, twin brother, Emory M. Jr. and Debra Allen of Ulster and Raymond and Donna Allen of Brunswick County, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Richard Barlow of Columbia Cross Roads; special sister, Nancy Allen of Troy, who donated stem cells for Ron, and her friend Dean Johnson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristina May Allen, Dec. 24, 1986, mother, Doris E. Davidson Allen, Sept. 25, 1988, and father; Emory M. Allen Sr. Dec. 13, 1999. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial in Bradford Co. Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA. –Towanda Daily Review.
