was born in Coon Rapids, Iowa on Valentine's Day 1924, to Charles and Mae Palmer. She was raised in Omaha and Washington DC where she met her first husband David Sutton. She traveled the world with David and settled in Lancaster when David died in 1962. In 1964, she married Ray Hanawalt with whom she shared a wonderful marriage and life. She worked as an executive and legal secretary until her retirement in 1978. She spent her retirement in the joy of her children and grandchildren who returned her love. She is survived by her husband Ray and her children Mark and Valerie, and her grandchildren Christy, Stephanie and David. She will be missed by her many friends and loving family. The loss of her humor, enthusiasm, and exuberance for life will leave an unfilled void for all. Services will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel in Lancaster. Internment following at Lancaster Community Cemetery.
