Myrtle Yordy lifelong resident of the Watsontown area passed from this earth peacefully on August 17, 2012 at 91 years of age. She was born October 27, 1920, a daughter of the late William and Jimella Gottschall Kulp.

She was preceded in death in 1973 by her loving husband Russell, whose passing broke a union of thirty seven years of marriage.

Myrtle attended the Watsontown Alliance Church and Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton. A self-taught craftswoman, she proudly displayed many blue ribbons in her home, including ones from her winning entries in the Bloomsburg Fair. Her first love, knitting, was eventually replaced with her true talent for creating beautiful creatures from porcelain, including the many dolls whose tiny intricate features she painstakingly painted before dressing them in attire that was intricately sewn and embroidered in fashions any queen would envy. In addition to being a remarkable craftswoman, she was a successful business woman who owned and operated the restaurant at the Dewart Livestock Market for twenty years. Through the work, she made friends from across the area who remained special to her in the years that followed. However, to the family that adored her, it was her cooking and baking that were her most sought after stand out specialties; future family reunions will never be the same without grams baked macaroni and cheese and banana cakes. To know this special woman was to know a woman strong in her devotion and faith, who possessed a dear love for life itself and a remarkable spirit. With her timely passing, our world has lost a very loving mother, adoring grandmother, cherished sister and devoted friend.

In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was predeceased by a brother, Sherman Kulp.

Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Wednesday at the Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton where the funeral will be held at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Arlie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
