Mr. Summerfield was born October 5, 1936, in Edwards County, the son of Floyd Lee and Vera Viola (Knackmus) Summerfield. He married Shirley French June 30, 1960, in Lawrenceville. She survives.
Chic was a member of the Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Master Mason, and Eagles, and was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney. He was an avid motorcyclist and automobile enthusiast. Chic participated in many motorcycle and automobile races.
Mr. Summerfield is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Summerfield, of Olney; children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sondra Sue Summerfield; and in-laws, Merle and Maxine Watson.
