DRAKESBORO - Mary Ann Gilbert, 97, of Drakesboro, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Gilbert was born November 23, 1917, in Muhlenberg County. She was a retired school teacher with the Muhlenberg County Board of Education for 33 years. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Powderly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gilbert; parents George and Euberta Penrod; daughter Sylvia Bivins; grandson Jon Bowles; and great-granddaughter Katie Bryant.

Survivors include her son, Richard (Donna) Penrod of Goshen, IN; daughters Patricia (Errol) Bryant of Beechmont and Janie (Jimmy) Bowles of Earlington; son-in-law W.T. Bivins of Florida; grandchildren Faith (Tony) Cary, Michael (Janet) Bryant, Jamie (Clara) Bowles, Jerry (Connie) Bowles, and Mary Jane Bowles; five great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 12, 2014, at 11:00AM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with Rev. E.W. Greenwalt officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
