Cari Marie Lindquist went home to the Lord peacefully on April 21, 2009, (9:30 AM), at North Memorial Hospital,(Hospice), 3500 France Ave North with her family at her side.
Preceded in death by parents, Claude and Lillian Ermatinger. Also preceded by loving husband of 58 years, Warren (formerly Principal of Earl Brown Elementary School).
Survived by children, Claudia Olson, Kevin (Peggy) and Colleen (Mike) Loth; grandchildren, Christopher (Heidi), Amy (Andy), T.J., Christina, Robert and Camden; great-grandchildren, Acacia and Rose; Nephews: Mark Whidden, Mike Whidden, Dana (Pat) Whidden, Derek (Corena) Whidden, Grandniece: Emily; along with many good friends.
Carabelle Ermatinger was born 8lb 10oz on Saturday at 7:50 pm on December 4, 1926 by
Dr Henry Melvin Lee to Claude and Lillian Ermatinger. She was named after her Grandmother Carrie Ermatinger.
Cari graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. At the U of MN Cari majored in English Literature and Child Psychology with a 3 year degree in Associate in Art. She was member of Kappa Delta Sorority at the U of MN. During that time she worked at the Perine Book Store in Dinky town. Between 1944-1945 she worked as a volunteer at the Nursery School for underprivileged. in 1946 she was an assistant buyer at Dayton's Department store and the same year became President of Kappa Delta. During this time Warren was introduced to Cari at a U of MN dance by Don Loth, (A Good Friend of the couple & also Best Man for Warren's & Cari's Wedding).
In 1958 she join the Joan of Arc Guild at Saint Alphonsus. Also at Saint Alphonsus, Rosary Altar Guild: former secretary, help initiate the CCD, (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), program in 1960. During the Christmas Bazaar, she enjoyed making posters promoting the event. Cari won the Christmas Bazaar raffle in the 1960's. A 3', 3 Piece Lighted Blow Mold White Nativity , which included Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus with a nice redwood shelter.
Every Saturday Cari and her friends, (Laverne Weber), at Saint Alphonsus, would make donuts from scratch for the after Sunday mass get together.
She retired from working at the Ambassador nursing home in 1986 after eleven year of service as a nurse's Aid. Cari loved the America's West and worked in the summers at Yellowstone National Park from 1946-1947. In the 1980's Cari and her husband Warren took yearly trips, by car, to Arizona in the month of March to vacation with friends. She also enjoyed taking photographs, crossword puzzles, keeping in touch with family and friends by writing letters or calling them up, (writing letters and placing stickers on the envelopes was one her trade marks) and of course watching game shows and or Soap operas. Cari's favorite take out was Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Cari was placed in a beautiful Last Supper Silver Casket with Chrome Hardware.
Memorial service were on Monday April 27th at 10:30 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Avenue N., Brooklyn Center. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was after the service. Visitation was Sunday April 26th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at: Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Chapel 612-521-3677 Penn & Dowling Aves. North. Cari was very proud of her Irish heritage and wanted a bag piper at her interment.
