On a mission out of RAF/USAAF Station 138 Snetterton Heath, Norfolk, England to bomb targets at Mannheim, the airplane was struck by anti-aircraft flak and crashed at Hockenheim, Germany.
Seven crewmembers were killed. The pilot and radio operator escaped.
