Emma had lived at 43 Warrington Ave. in Vermilion Heights for 56 years. She came with her young family from Terre Haute in 1900. She was a charter member of the Vermilion Heights Methodist Church and the Lend-A-Hand Society of the church. One of the Woman's Society of Christian Service Church circles was named in her honor along with her friend Mayme McIntosh. Her hobbies were church work, quilting in the cold months and gardening in the warm months.
When asked how she stayed so young, she responded "A happy outlook on life and keeping busy with children."
