Ray was born June 25, 1933 in Boyd County, KY to the late E.B. and Anna Laura Lee Alderson. His sister, Betty Ruth Alderson Lewis, also preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Anne Willard Alderson; son, David (Evelyn) Alderson of Morganton; daughter, Carolyn Alderson Hogg of Yorktown, VA.; grandson, Eddie Alderson and children of Granite Falls; granddaughter, Roxie Hogg Turner (Keith) and sons of Yorktown, VA.; brothers, Franklin (Carolyn) Alderson of Ashland, KY and Jack (Michelle) Alderson of Calgary, Alberta.
Ray proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He answered the Lord’s call to the Gospel Ministry while living in New Mexico. Ray graduated from High Point College in 1969 and attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has served as Minister of Music in churches in NC and VA.
A home-going service commemorating Ray’s personal and Christian life will be held at Green Street at 11:00, November 8th. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the National Service Park in Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Piedmont, Westchester Dr. High Point, or to the Saints Alive ministry of GSBC. Cumby Family Funeral Services, High Point is assisting the family.
