Charles Jerome Butzer of Chatham and formerly of Wallaceburg and Mitchell's Bay passed away at Riverview Gardens with his daughter Peggy at his side on Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at the age of 91. Charles is the son of the late Benjamin & Verna Butzer. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Holmes) in 1981. Beloved father of Peggy Campbell (Mark) of Chatham and loving grandfather of Lyndsay Rideout (Trevor) of London. Cherished great grandpa to Spencer Rideout. Brother of Doug Butzer (Anne Marie), Ed Butzer (Marg), Irene Watson (Bill) and Florence Trudell. Predeceased by his sister Bertha Rutter (Spencer), brothers Art Butzer (Marie), Vic Butzer (Mary) and nephews Terry Rutter (Kay) & Dennis Rutter, Bob Watson and Ron Butzer. Charles had worked for Waltec for his entire working career. He was a very proud Naval Veteran of World War II, serving on ships HCMS Brantford and HCMS Micmac as an able bodied seaman, quarter master and gunnery. Charlie will be fondly remembered by many as a fisherman, an avid card player, lover of jokes, especially practical ones, dancing , music , and partying and all around good guy. He was your loyal friend. Charlie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 18 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge.
