The Marion Sentinel Thursday February 19, 1920
Death of Mrs. Frank Buchtella
Mrs. Frank Buchtella died Wednesday morning at the county home of pneumonia. About two months ago the Buchtellas, who have lived here many years, were found in a deplorable condition, living in a shack near Indian Creek. Their son, Wesley, a big able-bodied man, was then warned that if he did not provide for his parents better, they would be taken to the county home. There was some improvement in conditions, but last Sunday, when it was found Mrs. Buchtella was very ill and needed care, they were taken to the home. The family have lived a rather secluded life always, and while they have been residents of Marion a long time, have mingled so little with the community, that scarcely anyone but near neighbors knew of them. When their only daughter died a few years ago, Mrs. Buchtella left her own yard for the first time in ten or twelve years. She is survived by her husband and son. The funeral will probably be held Friday.

From the book Abstracts from Records of Undertakers and Emblamers[sic], page 61: Mary Buchtela, Linn County home, Feb. 18, 1920, age 70 yrs, Married, buried Marion, Feb. 20, 1920
