Mary Jo Meadows Nix, 84, of Beaumont, Texas, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Mary Jo was born on August 29, 1930, in Waco, Texas, to Emma Sawyer Meadows and George Meadows.

It was in Waco that she met her husband of sixty-seven years. Mary Jo met Henry while working in the Registrar's Office at Baylor University. It was love at first sight. After their marriage they relocated to Beaumont where Mary Jo worked as a secretary at the Beaumont Independent School District. She had many hobbies including doing the Beaumont Enterprise's crossword puzzle every day. Mary Jo loved playing Bridge with her friends at the Beaumont Bridge Studio. She was quite an accomplished player achieving the rank of Silver Life Master.

Mary Jo was loved by many. She will be deeply missed by her family including her husband, Henry; daughter, Cheryl Rumery and her husband, Kyle; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and sister, Margie Dickinson.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Emma Sawyer Meadows and George Meadows; brothers, Bill Meadows and Jack Meadows; and nephew, Bill Oliver.

Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, Texas
