Inventor. A pioneer of American audio he is best known for his invention of the famous Klipsch style of stereo speakers. A founder of the Klipsch and Associates speakers in 1946, he used a unique horn instead of a standard cone for the high end of the audio speakers. A 1926 graduate of the New Mexico State University, he received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, and a Masters of Science in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1934. He also received a Doctor of Laws from the New Mexico State University in 1981, when he was 77 years old. In 1978, Klipsch was honored with the Audio Engineering Society's Silver Medal, and in 1984, his induction as a member into the Audio Hall of Fame. The Electrical Engineering Department at New Mexico State University was also renamed the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in his honor in 1995. The biography work, "Paul Wilber Klipsch, The Life The Legend" (2005), was written about his life. Klipsch passed away in 2002, at the age of 98. (bio by: K)
