James Donald “J.R.” Russell of Danville died Monday at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. He was 86. Born June 24, 1928, in Lizton, he was a son of Roby and Marie (Kennedy) Russell.
Mr. Russell was a 1946 graduate of Danville High School. He was a hardware specialist, working in home improvements, as well as being a manager for the Wakeup Oil Company in Danville until his retirement in 2011.
He was a member of the Danville Christian Church and belonged to numerous organizations in the Danville community.
Survivors include a daughter, Ginny (Wayne) Ellison of Danville; sons James M. (Lisa) Russell of Avon and Danny (Teresa) Russell of Mooresville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Roberta Miller.
