Mrs. Sam Eeds Dies Thursday, Funeral Saturday
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Seydler funeral home for Mrs. S. M. (Edna) Eeds, who died at the Holmes Memorial hospital Thursday evening at 9:45 o'clock.
The Rev. Claude F. O'Neall, pastor of the Awaelder Baptist church, the Rev. J. Earl Bryant, pastor of he First Baptist church, and the arev. Oscar Thompson Jr., padtor of the Memorial Heights Baptist church, will officiate at the final rites.
Burial will take place in the Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Eeds had been critically ill only a short time and the first of the week was brought back to Gonzales from San Antonio where she had gone for medical treatment.
She was born Edna McElyea on January 9, 1892, near Leesville. Her parents were Jim and Laura Lee Milner McRlyea, natives of the state of Tennessee and Texas respectively.
A member of the First Baptist church, she was married to Sam M, Eeds on January 22, 1924, and the couple had made their home in Gonfor all of these years.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Edna Louise (Totsy) Eeds of Dallas; three brothers, Madton McElyea of Gonzales; Coley McElyea of Wuitaque, Texas; and two,sisters, Mrs. Aubrey (Lena) Alsup and Mrs. Tennis Miller, both Of Gonzales.A sister, Miss Alma McElyea, preceded her in death several years ago.
