Perry D. Evans, 89, formerly of Galva and Cambridge, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 28th, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. Carlene Appel will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Perry Evans Memorial Fund. Perry Evans was born November 9, 1914 in Media, Illinois, the son of Daniel and Clara Magee Evans. He was educated in rural area schools. His marriage to Fern L. Higgins took place on November 28, 1934 in Galesburg. She died on November 3, 1973. He married M. Kathryn Johnson Hobbs on December 11, 1974 in Rock Hill, SC. She died April 24, 1981. Perry was self employed most of his life. He had owned a bulldozer business and was a mechanic for over forty years. His hobbies included motorcycles, shooting pool, and flying. He was a pilot and loved to fly his own airplane. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Clara and James Buchanan, Rock Hill, SC, Phyllis Kraklow, Fort Mill, SC, Patricia Rohs, Silvis, two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joyce Evans, Erie, Arthur and Sherri Evans, Fort Mill, SC, and a sister-in-law, Marian Evans, Cambridge. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. His two wives, two sons, three brothers, Robert, Dale, and Earl Evans, two sisters, Mildred Evans Schaecher, and Phyllis Evans Camerer, a grandson, Thomas Evans, and a son-in-law, Allen Rohs, preceded him in death.
