She was born on July 27, 1919, in Fillmore, Mo., to Graham and Ruby Faires Dysart. She graduated from Maitland High School.
On October 3, 1938, she married Arthur "Bob" Robert Townsend in Savannah. They farmed all their married life in the Rea area.
Mrs. Townsend was a member of the Whitesville Baptist Church, Whitesville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bob Townsend; daughter, Sharon Townsend; parents; two brothers, Harold Dysart and Wayne Dysart and a grandson.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bob Townsend; seven children and their spouses, Marilyn and Spencer Brown, Donna and Warren Townsend, Patty and Jim Monical, Cheryl and Mike Stackpole, all of the St. Joseph; Gary and Pam Townsend and Eddie Townsend, all of Rea, and Phil and JoAnn Townsend, Maryville, Mo; daughter-in-law, Carol Townsend, St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on January 20, 2007, at whitesville Baptist Church.
Interment: Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Mo.
