Chilon Chastain Braudaway, 86, of Cullman, died Friday, September 26, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating and with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Braudaway is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joanne Braudaway; father, William Braudaway; stepdad, Clyde Srygley and mother, Birdie Srygley.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Doris White Braudaway; sons, Gary Braudaway (Janice) and Keith Braudaway; daughters, Donna Smith and Dianna Ray (Carl); stepsons, Edward White III, Richard White (Sylvia), Clay White (Anastasia); stepdaughters, Grace Anne Thompson (Bob); brother, Gene Srygley; sister, Evelyn McLaughlin; grandchildren, Jason Goodwin, Holley Dickinson, Lauren Goodwin, Shelby Ray and Hannah Braudaway; stepgrandchildren, Trish White, Chris White, Matthew White, Athan White and Loukas White; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Yates, Kylie Cannon, Savannah Goodwin, Thomas Dickinson, Lily Dickinson; stepgreat-grandson, Alex White; and his beloved Beagle, Toby.
He served his country from 1946 to 1949 in the United States Airforce and served as Minister of Music at Westside Baptist Church in Decatur from 1950 to 1965 and at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur. He was a current member of Northside Baptist Church in Cullman. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and golfing.
Pallbearers include Rader White, Carlton Smith, Jason Goodwin, Steve Whitman, Richard White and Clay White.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org or Hospice of Cullman County.
Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
